Now, it has become a habit of all of us to simple open the Google search panel whenever any information is needed regarding anything and everything. In return, Google being encouraged with this positive response of the audiences all over the world, has already begun to launch useful services for people, absolutely free of cost. We all know about Gmail, of course it is the largest and safest mailing service recommended by people all over the world. But, there are a few more services officially owned and managed by Google that very proportion of people actually do know about.

Now, let us begin with the few basic services of Google, yes by basic services I actually mean it’s very own search engine and mailing service i.e. Gmail. Presently, in this internet an technological era, I suppose there won’t be anyone who doesn’t make use of these services, however exceptions do exist everywhere.

Be it projects, gaining knowledge or any other purpose –  we simply use the Google’s free search engine to find some relevant information. Not only the common man, huge startups, blogs and for all other internet giants; the first and foremost priority is Google when it comes to ranking their stuffs on the internet. Perhaps that’s the power of Google.

Now, let us take the example of Google Mail or simply Gmail. People of all the ages use this service primarily be it teens, adults or anyone else, including you and me as well. Additionally, Gmail is always believed for it’s privacy, the thing that matters to most these days. Furthermore, it’s two step verification and alternate email address are just another line(s) of security. We basically use Gmail to exchange the important data, information, projects etc. between the two ends.

Hence, we all use the various free and paid Google service(s) in one or the other ways to get of various stuffs done. Though many of us are actually unaware of this awesome service by Google, but let me tell you – Google Trend is a tool that allows you to know how many times a particular term or phrase was searched for.

For eg. Let us take a term “Black shoes” – users can now find out how many times the term Black Shoes was searched, across which regions, and (for) world as a whole. For many Bloggers, it may seem alike the keyword research tool – Google AdWords, but Google Trends is far more different; Since Google Adwords takes various other factors in consideration like competition, Bid etc. The tool also makes the understanding process easier, as it demonstrates the desired results via graph and beneath the graph, divide the searches according to region, city, language etc.

We all are aware of the navigation-like service provided by Google i.e. Google Earth and the funny fact is that – Though Google earth provides the advantage of have a look of the entire globe, we always end up looking at our own houses 😛 Now, Google Mars isn’t much different from Google earth as well. In fact, Google Mars is the first in-browser supported service, alike Google Maps.

With Google Mars, users can have an imagery look of the red planet – Mars and switch between elevation, visible and infrared data just like they do in Google Maps (toggle amid Map, Satellite and Hybrid mode). Google Mars was collaborated with Google Earth in February 2009, and now to have a glance of what mars actually looks like, users need to choose Mars from the dropdown menu (in toolbar) wherein earth is selected by default.

We all are not astronauts, but still we crave to see the outer space at least once in our lives. To be true, this urge of ours had not been fully satisfied until the introduction of Google Sky. This service by Google brings an exclusive range of images of the outer space from collaboration with – NASA Satellites, The Sloan digital sky Survey and the Hubble telescope. Keeping in mind the facts about diversity, the service is currently available in 26 different languages.

Google scholar, yet the last utility in the list of lesser know useful services by Google. Now Google Scholar isn’t something that is made solely for scholars and is accessible to them only. Instead, Google scholar is a service that focuses on literature lovers. Google Scholar is a unique service that contains an array (group) of Scholarly Literature in various formats.


Though Google never disclosed it, but according to a statistical survey in May 2104 the number of estimated documents relating to this service was 160 million. The biggest upside of this service is that 80-90% of the documents are present in the most common language across the globe i.e. English. With the introduction of it’s another new feature in 2012 – Scholar Citation Profiles, authors can now create their own public profile that can be edited by them only themselves only.
